Register for Religious Education

Last Updated: 12/10/2021

Welcome to St. Andrew’s Religious Education. We are starting a brand-new year, with a new format for every age. Yes, we will be in-person this year, however, rest assured we do have a backup plan for those needing to distance.

This year we have different groupings of educational opportunities.

Preschool, age 3 – to Kindergarten, 10:15-11:45 AM.
“Alelu! Growing and Celebrating with Jesus.”
Preschoolers will have class during the 10:30 AM Mass in the Mini Hall. While parents are engaged in the Mass, very young children will be participating in “Growing and Celebrating with Jesus.” Once a month preschool children will join their parents at Mass.

Elementary, grades 1-5, 8:30-10:00 AM.
“Discover! Finding Faith in Life”
The Discover program, utilizes the Catholic Children’s Bible, from St. Mary’s Press. Children will have a front row seat in listening to and learning from Jesus as they delve into his Word and Message. “Go Seek Find: Discover God’s Treasures” is the curriculum for 2nd grade First Reconciliation and 3rd grade First Communion. There is a track for each sacrament.

Junior High, grades 6-8, Wednesdays 6:00-8:00 PM.
“Catholic Connections”
Middle School children, sixth through eighth grade, will engage with their faith utilizing the Catholic Connection Handbook and the Breakthrough Bible. The goal is to engage middle schoolers in active participation of their faith with engaging faith development activities, bible study, and a youth ministry component.

Ninth grade will move forward to “Live It,” a pre-confirmation program utilizing the Catholic Youth Bible and the Catholic Faith Handbook. A pre-confirmation program with active, real-life learning, community building, and an inter-weaving of Scripture with Tradition in a conversational way. It truly invites teens to explore their faith in a meaningful way.

Confirmation preparation “Called to Mercy,” a new Confirmation preparation program, invites and draws young people into the Lord’s most powerful message: to give witness to mercy with their lives! Online learning modules and gathered community-building sessions offer engaging, relevant, and deeply reflective opportunities for a true spiritual conversion to lives that give witness to Jesus’ call and the Church’s mission of mercy.

RCIA is a process for adults inquiring into the Catholic Faith, or unbaptized individuals seeking baptism into the Catholic Faith, or the continuing conversion of baptized Catholics desiring to complete their sacraments of First Communion and Confirmation. RCIA is offered to adults and their families of older children (4th grade and older) needing the sacraments of baptism, and/or first communion and confirmation. Classes are scheduled every other Saturday beginning August 7th, 2021. Classes start at 4:30 PM and end with attendance at the 7:00 PM Mass. Adult RCIA is offered at 6:30 PM on Thursday evening or 2:00 PM on Sunday afternoon. An Adult Confirmation class is also offered at this time.

Adult Bible Study We have two offerings beginning in January.

1. If you would like an introduction to the Bible, we have a fun and engaging study for you. A new program is being offered on Formed.org, titled “Our Story”. It has a 6-minute video for each session which takes you on a journey through each book and letter of the bible. One-page handouts per session will be offered to anyone interested in participating with their family or friends.

2. A 10-week thematic study, “Evangelization,” will begin on Tuesday, January 4th. Morning classes (9-10:30 AM) and evenings (6:30-8:00 PM).

Contact the parish office for more information if you have any questions regarding any of the above offerings.
